Leopard Killing in Kilinochchi

Since what’s currently happening in Sri Lanka is about the killing of a poor leopard, I decided to write my first blog post about my thoughts on this.  Let’s start with what happened, the leopard had come to the area where humans were residing, the residents had informed the wild life authorities and once they failed, the villagers battered the poor creature to death.  Did they attack the creature because the creature attacked them? Did they have to clobber this creature to death? Did they have to parade around the carcass of this animal? Why did the animal come to the village? These are just a few of the questions running in my mind.  Leopards are beautiful creatures that belong in the wild, they hunt to eat and survive. So what happens when we deforest and establish villages in their territory? It doesn’t take a scientist to answer this question.
