Leopard Killing in Kilinochchi

Since what’s currently happening in Sri Lanka is about the killing of a poor leopard, I decided to write my first blog post about my thoughts on this. 

Let’s start with what happened, the leopard had come to the area where humans were residing, the residents had informed the wild life authorities and once they failed, the villagers battered the poor creature to death. 

Did they attack the creature because the creature attacked them? Did they have to clobber this creature to death? Did they have to parade around the carcass of this animal? Why did the animal come to the village? These are just a few of the questions running in my mind. 

Leopards are beautiful creatures that belong in the wild, they hunt to eat and survive. So what happens when we deforest and establish villages in their territory? It doesn’t take a scientist to answer this question. Their home is taken away and as a result of deforestation their food source is also limited. Is it not justifiable for the leopard to enter the village?

In my point of view, there was good reason for the leopard to enter the village but what happened to him was a tragedy. He was beaten to death by an ignorant, self centered mob of people who were unaware that the reason he entered the village was because of the actions of humans ourselves. Apart from being brutally murdered by this mob of ignorant humans, they used him as a prop for their own entertainment and took selfies as if they had a done a good deed. 

These people have committed a crime for which they must pay. I hope the authorities will take the necessary action against them and take measures to ascertain that it will not happen again. 

It is disappointing to know that humans, being so much superior still have not realized that animals need to live too. We, the humans are the ones who have taken away their homes. Deforestation needs to stop and we must protect these animals and let them live in their habitats.

    I strongly agree with you. by reading your post. this is what came to my mind. leopards they hunt to survive just like us they also have feelings, needs and wants. they come to our lands to kill dogs and other animals. not only leopards. elephants come to farms to eat. they break houses because of salt in the kitchen.

    we have invade their lands. we build houses, and farms etc. and those humans kill that innocent animal. this is not the first time or the second time. these people should't go to jail. they should feel the same pain which this poor leopard went through. I'm a wildlife lover and a photographer. i have seen many humans when we go to the jungles to see them the way they behave. i feel disgusted to see things happening to our wild animals.

    I'm against killing this poor souls. I'm alone willing to stand against this with help or without. hope at least from this government will do something about this.

Box-O-Noodles Reviewed

Thought I will do a review on ‘box o noodles’ something a little bit different than the posts I started with. To start with how I got to know about this place, it just popped up on my Instagram feed and I eagerly started following the account being an avid lover of ‘china doll’ noodle boxes which I miss so much 😞 .  Box o noodles which is situated in Nawala, thank god offers delivery which is so great for someone as lazy as me.
